CarPlay isn’t the Only Player in the Connected Car Space

abaltaAs a journalist it’s getting harder and harder to get to interview movers and shakers.  Once a company becomes corporate, PR people want to send journalists links to information, that anyone can Google on their own.

What I love about writing about breaking technology, is that I get to speak with visionaries who want to change the world and create new products never seen before.

This interview with Michael O’Shea from CEO of Ablata Technologies. One of the few people who knows that CarPlay, will be very expensive.  Carmakers will have to jump through Apple’s hoops which are costly.  Have you noticed even the simplest, iPod player with a connector is expensive?  That’s because an Apple co-processor has to be installed on the device and approved by Apple.

At CES, I was told that Apple won’t allow iPod players with connectors for 30 pin and Lightning, companies, must produce either one.  Therefore when CarPlay arrives it will be Lightning connector only.
